College Station Little League will host Player Evaluations to evaluate all baseball players participating in the Junior Minor, Senior Minor, Majors, Intermediate, Junior, and Senior divisions. Attendance at Player Evaluations is REQUIRED to be eligible for All-Stars. These assessments assist our managers/head coaches in creating balanced and competitive teams each year. There will be no Player Evaluations for T-Ball. Note that the CSLL Board only oversees the evaluations and the draft. The managers/head coaches choose their own teams.
Emails with specific times for arrival will be sent out after registration has closed. The dates for evaluations are listed on the tentative schedule for the season which is listed on this website and the receipt that is emailed to you after your registration is completed.
GEAR TO BRING:
Players can wear shorts and a t-shirt and need to bring a glove. No metal cleats, please! We will have a few bats and helmets at the facility, but please bring your own if you have them.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This is a come-and-go process that we plan to take about 20 minutes (depending on the number of players in attendance). Players will arrive at their scheduled time and will rotate through stations performing different drills. The stations include:
- Hitting
- Fielding at Short Stop
- Catching at First Base
- Pitching evaluation - optional (for player pitch divisions only)
Evaluations are simply to give our coaches an idea of each player’s ability in order to make the draft process as fair as possible. All players, except children of head coaches, must attend Player Evaluations in order to be eligible for the draft. ALL PLAYERS WILL MAKE A TEAM. However, those not attending Player Evaluations will be drafted alphabetically by age after all the draft-eligible players have been selected. This is to avoid "ringers" skipping evaluations in an attempt to be drafted to a specific team.
