Required Volunteer Information:
All volunteers must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible to participate in a Little League organization. Please understand that these safety protocols are put in place to help CSLL fulfill the requirements of our Little League® charter. All volunteers must:
- Fill out a volunteer application through our website. LL regulation I(c) 8 requires anyone “who provide[s] regular service to the league and/or ha[s] repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams” to have an application on file with CSLL.
- Complete a background check through our JDP link. LL regulation I(c) 9 requires all volunteers (as defined above) to complete a background check and be approved by the CSLL Board of Directors. We will be sending these links out via email, so please be watching for it. This is a very quick process.
- Complete mandatory coach training. All head and assistant coaches will be required to complete training in order to be eligible to coach a team. We will host a mandatory in-person training for all head and assistant coaches on TBD at Pebble Creek Country Club. For those who were unable to attend the training in-person, we will send out information for you to complete the online training.
- Attend the mandatory safety meeting held prior to each season.
Additionally, we recommend reviewing the CSLL Ground Rules Manual so that you will be up-to-date on our local rules and policies.
NOTE: There are some important rule updates that you need to be aware of. These rules can be found in the CSLL Ground Rules Manual above. They include:
- All Senior Minor and above teams must keep pitch count for each game, similar to All Stars. The coach is required to maintain the LL Pitcher Eligibility Tracking Form and bring it with him to the Home Plate meeting before each game. Umpires are required to check for these forms.
- Additionally, pitch count information must be entered in TeamSideline when a coach enters the score. Please see the CSLL Ground Rules Manual above for details.
- All Competitive Tee Ball and above teams will receive a book of line up cards from CSLL. Coaches are required to fill them out before each game and bring them to the meeting at Home Plate before each game. Since it is a 3-part form, one will go to the umpire, one to the opposing team, and one will stay with the team. Umpires are required to enforce this.
- Coach Soft Toss Tee Ball has specific rules in place. Please read the CSLL Ground Rules Manual above to familiarize yourself with these rules.
- Competitive Tee Ball is a new Tee Ball division for the Spring 2022 season. Please read the CSLL Ground Rules Manual above to familiarize yourself with the rules for this division.
Required Umpire Training Information:
Beginning in the Spring 2020 season, all umpires are required to complete a background check, online Basic First Aid training, and online Abuse Awareness training. Little League requires this in order to comply with the mandates set forth by the “Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Act of 2017.” All athletes deserve to participate in sports free from bullying, hazing, sexual misconduct, or any form of emotional or physical abuse. There are certain requirements from the SafeSport Act that Little League International and all local little league programs must adhere to.
All volunteers of a local league are mandated reporters and could face criminal charges if the league chooses to ignore, or not report to the proper authorities, any witnessed act of child abuse, including sexual abuse, within 24 hours.
If an individual suspects a case of abuse within their league, they should report it to the appropriate child services organization and/or local law enforcement as well as their League President or District Administrator.
As one of the requirements, our league has adopted policies that prohibit retaliation on “good faith” reports of child abuse and that limit one-one-one contact with minors
Additionally, Little League has encouraged everyone to complete the Abuse Awareness training provided by USA Baseball and SafeSport
The training is free through USA Baseball, and all the information you need to complete it is listed below. Additionally, please read the new rules discussed above as this is something you will be involved in. The CSLL Ground Rules Manual and other documents listed above will help familiarize you with our local rules and policies.
To get the information for your background check, please register on our website as a Volunteer and select Umpire. We will send you a separate email with a link to the JDP background check site that Little League uses.
